Open-air float therapy reduces stress and promotes clarity
Frequently asked questions
HOW MUCH DOES ONE SESSION COST?
Floating is $65 per person for a single session.
HOW LONG IS THE SESSION?
The float session itself is one hour long, but from check-in to check-out, you will be at the spa for about an hour and a half - or longer if you stay to relax or enjoy other services after your float.
DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?
All you need to bring is yourself! Towels, showers, shower gel, shampoo, earplugs, etc. for your float will be provided upon entering your private float suite.
CAN I BRING MY OWN HYGIENE PRODUCTS?
Yes, however, we require that you use the shower gel and shampoo provided by Radiance before you float, but after you float you may use your own products if preferred. You are more than welcome to utilize our locker room for any extra “getting ready” that you may desire as well – our locker room is equipped with a hairdryer, flat iron, combs, q tips, hairspray, hair mousse, body lotion and deodorant.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Although we recommend bringing comfortable clothes to change into after your session, floating with any swim wear/undergarments is strictly prohibited. Upon arrival, we will give you a robe and slippers to change into, and you will be able to securely store your personal items in our locker room.
WHAT IF I’M CLAUSTROPHOBIC?
Our floats are not a traditional “pod” that will completely enclose you, but rather a spacious pool in a private room. You have the option to float in our “cabin” suite, which does have internal doors that you may keep open or closed during your session, or you may choose to float in our “open” suite, where the only walls around you are apart of your private room.
HOW IS THE WATER KEPT CLEAN?
Our float pools use a multi-layered cleaning system: UV light, peroxide sanitation and powerful filtration take place not only between every float, but once every hour whether the float is being used or not.
CAN I BRING A FRIEND, FAMILY MEMBER OR PARTNER?
Absolutely! You can book floats at the same time in separate rooms or book a couple’s float. Please note that to book two floats at one time you must call the spa directly at 605-275-9535. If you would like to book a single session for one person only you may book online here
IS IT SAFE TO FLOAT IF I AM PREGNANT?
Pregnant women can generally float safely, and many find it helps alleviate discomfort during pregnancy. However, it's always best to consult with your healthcare provider before trying float therapy while pregnant.
CAN I FLOAT WHILE ON MY PERIOD?
Yes. Just follow the same protocol you would for a public swimming pool or hot tub.
IS FLOATING BETTER THAN GETTING A MASSAGE?
Massage relaxes muscles from the outside, but floating removes light, sound, pressure, and touch so the nervous system can calm at the source. People who float often notice longer-lasting relief from stress, migraines, anxiety, and chronic tension.
IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT?
You must be 16 or older to use our float facilities at Radiance Day Spa.
CAN I FLOAT AFTER A SPRAY TAN?
Floating after a recent spray tan or application of at home tanning products is strictly prohibited.
IS THE WATER HOT OR COLD?
The float water is kept at about 94-96 degrees, or roughly the average temperature of our skin, so upon entering, it will not feel hot nor cold.
CAN I DO ANY WAXING OR SHAVING BEFOREHAND?
It is against our recommendations to wax or shave before a float due to the high salt content. Doing so can cause stinging or irritation to any areas that have undergone recent hair removal.
WHAT ABOUT MY HAIR?
You must wash your hair before and after floating so if you have a hairdo you want to keep, you shouldn’t float! Floating is not permitted if you have dyed your hair a dark or vibrant color within two weeks prior to an appointment.
WHAT IF I CAN’T SWIM?
Floating is as easy as taking a bath. You just step in, sit down, and lay back. You can touch the bottom with your hands, as the water is generally 10 inches deep. There is no skill required.
IS IT A SENSORY DEPRIVATION EXPERIENCE?
That part is completely up to you. In your float room, you will have the ability to keep lights and music on or off, depending on your preference. Whether you choose complete darkness and silence or music with our soft lighting, you will still get the benefits of your session!
HOW OFTEN CAN I FLOAT?
That is completely up to you! There is no limit, but if you LOVE floating like we do, consider signing up for our monthly membership!
